All the best events and activities in Bridgeport, WV
August 10–16, 2026 · Issue #03It's the sweet spot of August, Bridgeport — summer's still going strong, but the unmistakable signs of fall are everywhere. Practices are underway at the high school, freshman orientation lands this week, and Wednesday night the whole town gets its first look at the fall teams at the Titletown Tailgate.
The rest of the week holds a triathlon right here at The Bridge, a tomato festival in Fairmont, and the State Fair of West Virginia kicking off down in Lewisburg. Plenty to pick from — let's get to it.
Heads up: Event details can change — always confirm dates, times, and prices with organizers before heading out. Also note: the city has flagged 28 sections of town for potential water service interruptions through August 14 due to utility work, so keep an eye on city announcements.
★ This Week's Featured Event ★

6th Annual Titletown Tailgate
Tribe, food, and ducks — the BHS All Sports Boosters' annual kickoff party is the unofficial start of fall in Bridgeport. The fall sports teams, middle school football, and youth football squads all get their official unveiling, and then comes the main event: the famous Duck Drop, where rubber ducks tumble onto the turf and the closest to the target win $1,000, $500, and $250. Ducks are $10 — insider tip: buy yours from any BHS athlete before Wednesday, because they can sell out before the tailgate. New this year is a vortex photo machine, joining two bounce houses and a dunk booth for the kids. Come hungry: Tom Mellott's steak sandwiches, Zul's frozen lemonade, and kettle corn are all on the menu, and the alumni booth has BHS merch. Freshman orientation happens the same day, so expect a big, buzzing crowd.
