August 17–23, 2026 · Issue #04The backpacks are all but packed, Bridgeport - Tuesday morning the bell rings for grades 1-12 across Harrison County, and just like that, summer shifts into fall routine. It's a week of new beginnings all around: AWANA clubs kick off Wednesday night, the library's community garden is in full late-summer swing, and the State Fair wraps its final weekend down in Lewisburg.
Closer to home, Friday evening the Bridgeport Farmers Market throws its first-ever Night Market at Charles Pointe - drink trucks, live music, and cornhole under the lights.
Then Saturday brings an interesting one: a national Hallmark Keepsake Ornament artist signing right at Meadowbrook Mall. Add a bocce tournament, a free Bob Seger tribute, and a Sunday matinee, and the last unofficial week of summer goes out with plenty to do.
Heads up: The Bridge Sports Complex is closed through Sunday, August 23 for annual facility maintenance (reopening date subject to change - watch their social pages). Also: school's back Tuesday, so build in extra time for buses and school-zone traffic. And as always, confirm event details with organizers before heading out.

BFM2's First-Ever Night Market
The Sunday-morning staple goes after dark for the very first time. BFM2 is bringing familiar and new vendors, fun drink trucks, live music, and cornhole to Charles Pointe for an evening version of the market - shop local, grab a drink, and stay a while. This is a trial run in the best sense: the market crew has said a strong turnout is what earns more night markets down the road, so showing up is literally how you vote for this becoming a regular thing. Insider tips: come hungry and make the drink trucks your Friday dinner plan, and it's a school night no more - first week of classes will be done, so let the kids run the cornhole boards while the music plays.
